All Strikeforce ?Challengers 17? drug screens have come back negative, the Nevada State Athletic Commission announced Friday.
Twelve fighters in total were tested following their performances on July 22 at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, including headliners Bobby Voelker and Roger Bowling. Additionally, Shawn Jordan, Devin Cole, Ovince St. Preux, Joe Cason, Anthony Smith, Bill Cooper, Sterling Ford, Sarah Kaufman, Adlan Amagov and T.J. Cook were also tested and cleared.
All competitors tested were screened for both performance enhancing drugs and drugs of abuse such as marijuana and cocaine. Challengers 17 aired live on cable network Showtime.
Voelker knocked out Bowling in the second round of their welterweight headliner, earning him the deciding victory in their fight trilogy. Also notable was another dominant performance from light heavyweight St. Preux, as the former University of Tennessee linebacker quickly pounded out Cason in just 72 seconds. Additionally, Sarah Kauf…
Oregon’s Mike Pierce (13-5 MMA, 5-3 UFC) already has one Brazilian opponent on his mind in Carlos Eduardo Rocha, but that isn’t stopping him from taking dead aim at another.
Pierce, who’s in South Florida for this week’s UFC on FX 3 event, where he takes on Rocha on the evening’s preliminary card, said he’s spending his spare time trying to track down a local resident.
“I’ve actually been looking for Thiago Alves,” Pierce told MMAjunkie.com Radio (www.mmajunkie.com/radio). “I hit up all the fast-food joints in the area. I know he lives in town, and I haven’t been able to find him.”
Antonio Silva sustained a cut in his loss to Cain Velasquez that gushed a whole lot of blood. Much of that blood went into his eyes, so it’s not surprising that Silva said he couldn’t see a thing in the fight.
“One of the main reasons I got defeated was that. I couldn’t see a thing, there was a lot of blood and my eyes were burning. I tried to defend myself and not get hit at, shaking my head to see if I could get rid of that blood, but there was no way around it. From that moment on my corner was my eyes.”
It’s bad enough to not be able to see. Can you imagine not being able to see and having Velasquez repeatedly hit you? Silva tweeted that the cut required 13 stitches.
Not surprisingly, he received a medical suspension after the bout. He is out of action until July 23, possibly up to November if his nose is broken. Both possibly out of action until November, Velasquez and Jamie Varner received the longest suspensions because of hand issues.

The hit SyFy show Warehouse 13 has a new mystery man Marcus Diamond, who is played by the extremely talented Sasha Roiz. If you have seen him on the show you know he rocks as the bad guy who is making us all wondering what he is up to. Recently I was involved in a Q&A interview session with Sasha. I have to say I really didn?t know that much about him before the interview but I am pleased to say he is awesome. Most of you probably remember him from his days on Caprica but let me tell you he is going to make some waves on Warehouse 13. Plus he has a new show on NBC coming out this fall and he filled us in on both. Obviously things started off talking about the character of Marcus, who he described as focused, and exacting, and complex. There was a lot that Roiz couldn?t reveal about his alter ego although he did say the guy is a force that is working against the Warehouse this season. Translation he is going to cause some trouble for Warehouse 13 gang, it is a dark role for sure. H…
