Bar Refaeli

Lending her supermodel prowess to the fashionable warm weather wears, Bar Refaeli showed off her enviable form in a super-sexy photoshoot for the 2012 collection of Agua Bendita Swimwear. The Israeli-born bombshell looked absolutely stunning as she was snapped in a bevy of body-baring pictures, showcasing the range of colorful, ethnic-centered pieces for the brand’s forthcoming catalog.

Any day when the news doesn’t involve a fighter getting injured, a fighter failing a drug screening or a fighting going to jail is a good one, and hey, today looks like a good one.  A well-liked scrapper is switching weight classes again, a co-main event fighter has given his upcoming bout a thumbs-up, a heavyweight wants his title shot, and another fighter went to the doctor, but that’s it.  No cuts requiring stitches, no marijuana metabolites and no 40-person brawls ? as the indomitable Ice Cube would say, “It was a good day.”

  • Winner of the inaugural season of “The Ultimate Fighter” and longtime fan-favorite fighter Diego Sanchez announced that he’s moving down to lightweight.  Again.  If you’ll recall, his last trip down to the 155-pound weight class ended with a showdown against B.J. Penn, and that match-up wasn’t even competitive.  However, Sanchez’s recent return to welterweight yielded mixed results, so you know how that goes.

  • UFC lightweight stalwart Don Cerrone says that he’s cool with fighting Melvin Guillard this weekend at UFC 150.  Which is good because it’s only the co-main event and Cerrone signed the bout agreement months ago and if he were to suddenly say he wasn’t cool with it the UFC would probably sue him for breach of contract plus damages.

  • Who will be next to challenge UFC heavyweight champ Junior dos Santos?  Will it be Dutch behemoth Alistair Overeem, who’s currently serving a suspension for excessive horsemeat?  Or should it be former champ Cain Velasquez, who turned Antonio Silva into a Dexter-ish blood-splatter pattern on the Octagon floor back at UFC 146?

  • Brazilian light-heavyweight striker Wagner Prado reportedly saw a doctor yesterday for his eye injury, which he incurred via accidental foul at the hands (or fingers) of Phil Davis on UFC on FOX 4 Saturday night.  No word yet on the prognosis, but it’s great that Prado is getting professional help.  Eye injuries are no joke.

UFC 150 is now one for the history books, and the news cycle moves ever onward.  Of course, since most of today’s news was gleaned from what was said when the principle players of UFC 150 had a microphone stuck in their faces at the post-fight press conference, it seems like the pay-per-view event headlined by Benson Henderson and Frankie Edgar will linger with us a bit more.  So!  The news!

  • UFC middleweight champ Anderson Silva is done for the year, and we won’t see him again until 2013.  I guess he and Chael Sonnen did a good job hyping their July UFC 148 fight and those pay-per-view percentage points are really paying out, eh?  Good for him.  Now he has plenty of time to work on his garden and finish tiling the downstairs bathroom of his house in Curitiba, Brazil.

  • Regardless of what Alistair Overeem says or hopes or wants, UFC heavyweight champ Junior dos Santos is fighting top contender Cain Velasquez in December.  Ah, who are we kidding?  We’ve seen this scenario play out before.  The UFC is going to book Dos Santos versus Velasquez, and then Velasquez is going to get injured, and Overeem will step in.  Then Overeem is going to test positive for horse meat in a pre-fight screening and Frank Mir is going to get a call the day of the fight and he’s going to have to hop off his couch and come down to the arena and fight, and, well, you know how that goes.

  •  As per UFC president Dana White at the post-fight presser, should Edgar move down to featherweight, a title shot against champ Jose Aldo is not guaranteed.  Now ain’t that some [expletive].  Either way, Edgar is moving on, and so should you.

  • Strikeforce female bantamweight champ Ronda Rousey cleaned her house.  Seriously, if you watched her “All Access” episode earlier this week, the place resembled a crack den.  And not like a well-kept crack den, either.  More like a crack den whose occupants really have no cares whatsoever about appearances.

  • One more item that I’m putting out there: allegedly, a fighter in an amateur event in South Carolina died last night after his fight.  I won’t release the name until we get further confirmation, but the event was a local one called “Fight Night at the Point VI”, and it’s suspected that the fighter ? who was making his debut ? suffered a heart attack.  The event was fully-sanctioned by the athletic commission.  Apparently, after the incident, the commission canceled the rest of the card.  I’ll report more as the story develops.  UPDATE: Here’s something from a local news outlet.

There are two story lines as the 2011 AMA Pro Motocross Series heads to Washougal, Washington for round 8 of the 12 round series.

First – the top three riders in the Supercross series this year are the same riders battling for the premiere 450 Motocross class championship. Only seven points separate series points leader Chad Reed (a two time Supercross Champion, 2004, 2008), the current AMA Supercross Champion Ryan Villopoto, and 2010 AMA Supercross and Motocross Champion Ryan Dungey. Reed is on top with 300 points (even after his high-flying crash of last week – Chad Reed – The Crash video here), Villopoto is next with 294, and Dungey one point back at 293. The championship is open to any one of them!

Second – In the 250 MX Lites class, it’s a Team Monster Energy Pro-Circuit Kawasaki series. Series points leader Dean Wilson on top, former World Motocross Champion of the MX2 class Tyla Rattray, and Blake Baggett – all Pro-Circuit riders, have ruled the podium week in and week out. In fac…

Larissa Papenmeier Blog

17 August 2012

2009 FIM Women’s World Championship runner-up Larissa Papenmeier can perhaps rightfully claim to be Suzuki’s fastest female motorcycle racer. The petite German runs the number 2 plate on her Teka Suzuki Europe World MX2 RM-Z250 and has taken two podium results from four rounds of the seven in the 2010 contest.

Courtesy Suzuki

“I had a slow speed crash about one month before the World Championship started at Sevlievo in Bulgaria – the same place that the MX1 and MX2 series’ was beginning. It was a silly fall but I broke a bone in my hand and it was a bit of a setback. I carried on riding, and doing the training that I could before going to Bulgaria. In a way the injury helped with my nerves for the race! Obviously I wanted to be 100%, but I went to the GP with little expectations and wanting just to get points. I scored 6th place which was reasonable in the circumstances.

“We had about a month then before our second round and where we would be joining the boys again at Agueda for the Grand Prix of Portugal. I was getting stronger and carried on my training and found time to finish second behind world champion Steffi Laier in the German Championship. Steffi is currently the fastest rider at the GPs but I know that I – and a good few others – are working as hard as we can to catch up and beat her. Germany is well represented in the world championship in which we are competing for the third time now as it began in 2008, for the two years before that it was a World Cup competition. It means that we have a strong national series and that is only good for the future of women’s racing in our country as more people can see what we are doing and maybe more girls will decide to come and have a go.

Whoa.  Folks are all a-Twitter about next week’s promo for "Basketball Wives" that aired last night.  Jennifer Williams and her estranged soon-to-be-ex-husband Eric Williams get physical.  And it doesn’t look pretty.

The promo clip inside, plus pics from Vivica Fox‘s birthday party….

So next week’s promo for the upcoming episode of "Basketball Wives" is a doozie.  It shows Jennifer & Eric Williams having dinner–likely to sort out all the drama they’ve been partaking in with their impending divorce.

And Eric apparently gets pissy and slammed a drink in Jen’s face.  Check it:

Eric would have A FEW extra knots on his head joining his current lonely one had it been me.  But to each their own…

Vivica Fox turned 47 over the weekend.  And she celebrated her 47th birthday with her fiance Slimm and friends in Long Beach, CA.  Comedians Lunell, G-Thang, Jonathan Slocumb, as well as Regina King and Azja Pryor were…
